Why the 11 Plus Summer Booster Course Matters for Wilton Families
Boys applying to Bishop Wordsworth’s School take two GL Assessment papers, each lasting 50 to 55 minutes. Girls applying to South Wilts Grammar School take three GL Assessment papers, each lasting 45 to 50 minutes, including a Maths paper based on the Key Stage 2 curriculum. Regular timed practice in August helps build the accuracy and stamina needed for these exams.
Bishop Wordsworth’s School does not set a fixed pass score. Candidates must meet a standard that is reviewed annually, but meeting this standard does not guarantee admission. Boys outside the designated area may be considered if they reach the standard and list the school as their first choice.
South Wilts Grammar School requires all applicants to sit the 11 Plus. Families must register on the school’s website during the registration window. Meeting the qualifying standard does not guarantee a place, as the school is often oversubscribed.
Wiltshire families must submit applications to Wiltshire Council by the published deadline. Late applications result in a later test date and increase the risk that places will be filled, even with a passing score.
The Bishop Wordsworth’s School PAN for Year 7, September 2026 was 160. Similarly, the South Wilts Grammar School’s published admission number for years 7 – 11 is also 160. To get a place, students must work hard and summer is just the right time to prepare.
