11 Plus Tutoring offers a targeted summer booster programme in August for Year 5 students in Tring, specifically structured to meet the requirements of the South West Herts Schools Consortium test administered in September. The consortium consists of seven partially selective schools in South West Hertfordshire: Croxley Danes School, Parmiter’s School, Queens’ School, Rickmansworth School, St Clement Danes School, Watford Grammar School for Boys, and Watford Grammar School for Girls.
Students in Tring are required to take the academic test only once, as a single registration and examination process applies to all consortium schools, regardless of the number of schools to which they apply. Why the 11 Plus Summer Booster Course Matters for Tring Families
The SWHSC test includes two papers: Mathematics and Verbal Reasoning. These are custom papers, not standard GL or CEM versions, each lasting about 45 to 60 minutes with a short break. Scores are age-standardised to account for birth month.
Each of the seven consortium schools sets its own Published Admission Number (PAN) for Year 7, published annually on the school’s admissions page. Families should verify the current PAN for each preferred school, as these numbers may change between admissions cycles. According to Watford Grammar School for Girls’ admission policy, its PAN was 210 girls, of which 137 were community places and up to 73 were specialist places.
A single online registration covers all six academic SWHSC schools. Music and Sports aptitude tests are available separately and are optional. Tring families only need to register and test once.
Parents will receive scores around noon on Thursday, 15 October 2026. The secondary application deadline is Saturday, 31 October 2026.
There is no fixed pass mark. In Watford Grammar School for Girls, places are offered in descending order of standardised score, although Looked After Children and staff children receive priority at most schools. Because Tring is at the northern edge of the consortium’s catchment area, distance from the school may affect admissions when places are oversubscribed. Families should review each preferred school’s policy carefully.
