2027 Entry Note
The August 2026 course is intended for Broadstone Year 6 students planning to begin at Dorset Consortium Grammar School in September 2027. At Broadstone Middle School, students aged 9 to 13 take the 11 Plus entrance exam in Year 6, rather than Year 5, which differs from most other regions in England. Registration for the September 2027 Dorset Consortium entrance exam opened on Monday, April 13, 2026, and will close at noon on Friday, 4 September, 2026. The entrance exam is scheduled for Saturday, 26 September, 2026. Families will receive results by email on Friday, 16 October, 2026. The Common Application Form must be submitted to the local council by noon on Saturday, 31 October, 2026. Broadstone families are required to submit their forms through BCP Council, which serves as the local authority for their permanent address.Looking for an Online 11 Plus Summer Course in Broadstone?
If your child is in Year 6 at Broadstone, 11 Plus Tutoring offers a summer booster programme in August to help them prepare for the Dorset Consortium entrance exam in September. In Broadstone, students move from Broadstone First School to Broadstone Middle School at age 9, then go on to upper school at 13. To enter grammar school in Year 7, children must take the Dorset Consortium entrance exam during Year 6.
They only need to register and take the exam once, since all four Dorset Consortium grammar schools use the same test. Poole Grammar School for boys and Parkstone Grammar School for girls both give priority to families living in the BH18 postcode. Families can also apply to Bournemouth School for Girls and Bournemouth School for Boys, which use the same entrance exam.

Why Families in Broadstone Seek the 11 Plus Summer Booster Courses?
Exam practice gap
Children benefit from taking all three timed GL Assessment papers, Maths, English, and Verbal Reasoning, several times in real test conditions before the September exam.
Timing and speed
Students often need to develop greater accuracy and quicker response times when completing questions under timed exam conditions.
Reasoning Subjects
Since schools rarely cover Verbal Reasoning in regular lessons, most families need to organise extra preparation on their own.
Self-study plateau
Without a structured plan or regular tutor feedback, summer revision at home often loses focus and slows down during the holidays.
Building confidence
Practising full mock papers under real exam conditions helps children feel calm and prepared when they take the test on Saturday.
Structured August learning
Following a weekly timetable in August gives families a clear plan for revision, instead of letting preparation drift.

Year 6 Broadstone Student Built Exam Stamina Across All Three Papers
A student from Broadstone, enrolled in the summer booster course, had independently studied mathematics and English during the academic year but had not previously completed the three Dorset Consortium papers, Maths, English, and verbal reasoning, in a single, timed sequence. Initial mock sessions indicated that, despite strong subject knowledge, the student's focus and accuracy declined significantly by the third paper. Throughout the four-week programme, full timed run-throughs of all three papers in sequence, accompanied by tutor feedback after each session, fostered the endurance and consistency necessary for sustained performance. By the end of August, the student was completing all three assignments without the accuracy decline observed in earlier attempts.
