Why the 11 Plus Summer Booster Matters for Timperley Families
The Trafford Grammar Schools Consortium entrance test, set by GL Assessment, consists of two papers, each lasting roughly an hour, covering Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning.
Altrincham Grammar School for Boys (“AGSB”) is a wholly selective academy grammar school for boys aged 11-18. The Published Admission Number (PAN) for the year commencing 1 September 2027 will be 202.
Sale Grammar School’s published admissions guidance indicates a qualifying score of 334 for entry in September 2026. Across the Trafford consortium, qualifying scores have typically fallen within the 324–334 range in recent years. However, each school only confirms its official cut-off after results are released, and achieving the required score does not automatically secure a place.
The admission policy of Altrincham Grammar School for Boys says that this is a selective grammar school; passing the entrance test does not automatically guarantee a place. When the number of eligible applicants exceeds the number of available places, the school is considered oversubscribed.
