For Year 5 families in Richmond upon Thames, 11 Plus Tutoring offers an intensive Summer Booster Course each August to support preparation for selective grammar school entry in autumn 2026. Many pupils in TW9, TW10 and SW13 use this programme when preparing for highly competitive schools such as Tiffin Girls’ School or Tiffin School in Kingston upon Thames.
As the school year ends and the October exams approach, August becomes a crucial revision window. Pupils can use this time to address gaps in learning, reinforce key skills and develop the pace and accuracy needed for real exam conditions.

Why Families in Richmond Seek the 11 Plus Summer Booster Courses?
Exam practice deficit:
Even if a child has a strong understanding of the material covered in the curriculum, they still need to practise doing entire papers under real-time constraints before the October exam.
Speed and timing
It takes practice, not just knowledge, to maintain accuracy and speed during a 50-minute multiple-choice exam.
Reasoning Skills
The more comprehensive 11 Plus skill set, which includes Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, is rarely taught in the typical primary curriculum, prompting families to arrange specialised preparation even though Tiffin admission exams focus on maths and English.
Self-learning plateau
Independent summer revision can easily lose focus and pace without organised sessions and professional input.
Increasing confidence
Children who are repeatedly exposed to timed simulation scenarios feel more at ease, more comfortable with the format, and better prepared to perform on test day in October.
Planned August learning
Instead of letting preparation wander during the holidays, a regular weekly schedule throughout August provides families with a solid foundation for review.

Why the 11 Plus Summer Booster Course Matters for Richmond Families
The time between the conclusion of the school year and the start of the autumn entrance exams is the most important window of time for Year 5 students’ preparation, according to families in Richmond upon Thames. Tiffin Girls’ School or Tiffin School
Tiffin Girls’ School and Tiffin School each set their own admissions process, so they do not use the same exam board. Tiffin School works with Quest Assessments to create its English and Maths test every year. Tiffin Girls’ School does not use an outside provider and describes its Stage One test as multiple-choice and computer-marked.
Tiffin Girls’ School uses a two-stage admissions process. The first stage is a multiple-choice test on 1–2 October 2026. Those who are shortlisted move on to a written test in November. There is no set pass mark. The 180 available places are offered to students with the highest combined scores from both stages.
Tiffin School has a similar process. The first stage is a computer-marked test on 2nd October 2026, followed by a written test in mid-November. The school offers 180 places, in order of final scores. The final score is made up of 50% English and 50% Maths, with the Maths score coming from both stages.
Tiffin School allocates places by ability in rank order of Combined Score, prioritising looked-after children first. Tiffin Girls’ School gives disadvantaged children, including looked-after children and those eligible for means-tested free school meals within the catchment area, highest priority in its oversubscription criteria.
Each school has its own priority rules. Tiffin Girls’ School gives priority to students living in certain postal districts, such as TW9 and TW10. Tiffin School has a 10km straight-line Priority Area that covers all of Richmond and sets aside up to 18 places each year for students with Sporting or Musical Aptitude.
